Cabarrus County is a county located in the south-central part of the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of 2000, the population was 131,063. A population of approximately 147,000 in 2005 represents a vast increase in population over the past 30 years, due largely to the increase in urban sprawl of Charlotte, North Carolina, to the southwest.
